Medical Council of India board of governors now mulling for a project to provide a level of playing to medical practitioners who complete their post-graduation and specialization from foreign countries.
PG Medical degrees from five English speaking countries including the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada are considered equivalent to MD/ MS degree in India but the thing is changing for PG medical degrees from other countries with no benchmark on how these PG degrees are to be considered in India.
In the absence of regulation, these PG Medical degrees from foreign countries apart from those recognized by MCI have no value in India.
MCI Board of governors has taken this issue in their 2018 meeting. the idea of equating these degrees to DNB .The matter was considered in the meeting and Board of governors have decided to consider introducing DNB examination for candidates qualifying degree from foreign countries.
